Instead of voting for Mark Carney, why don't we HIRE him?
(Let's get capitalism working for us for a change)
Instead of electing Mark Carney as our Prime Minister, why don't we just hire him? We all know he's eminently qualified. He advised Trudeau. He also worked for Stephen Harper and he was governor of the Bank of England. No one can argue with his reputation and experience as a financial wunderkind, but many question his ability to transition from the business world to the political arena. In fact, as some have already observed, he doesn’t seem all that comfortable with the idea.
How it would work.
The Canadian Government would purchase enough shares in Mr. Carney's firm Brookfield to give us a solid stake, in the company. Then instead of being mere taxpayers, we become shareholders and CLIENTS. VIP clients at that. In this way, he will be INCENTIVIZED to do his very best to grow our portfolio, and consequently our economy. Who knows, he might even decide to move the Canadian treasury into an offshore account, to facilitate even greater gains. We'd still be "Canada". We'd just be a subsidiary of a subsidiary of holding company like "Canada LLC - Cayman Division" That's how the big corporations do it. Why should they be the only ones to benefit from financial shenanigans? Why shouldn't capitalism work for US too?
A win for Mark Carney.
I dare say, Mr. Carney himself might prefer this arrangement. First, he gets to remain a private citizen. Unlike a politician he's not obligated to rub shoulders with the common people, or answer pesky policy questions from nosy reporters. Again, things he appears to be uncomfortable with. Plus, as a private / corporate citizen, he won't have to decide which country he wishes to be a citizen / resident of. Also, he won't have to disclose his assets or put them into a "blind trust". Something which, rightly or wrongly, many Canadians are uncomfortable with. As a bonus, he won't have to deal with trivial "political" distractions like runaway inflation, the housing crisis, uncontrolled migration, rising crime, climate change, gun control, free speech, tariffs, Ukraine and the Middle East.
A “win / win” for Canada
By hiring Mark Carney instead of electing him, he will be able to fully concentrate his efforts on making us (and by extension, him) even richer! Even better, we won't have to pay him a salary and he won't be eligible for a gold plated government pension. Instead, we will pay him a "management fee", which is standard practice in the investment industry. Best of all, if our investment were to lose money, or if we became dissatisfied with his work for any reason, we can terminate the arrangement IMMEDIATELY at any point. Instead of having to wait four years to vote him out. Or in the case of a Liberal government, possibly a decade or more.
For the good of our financial future, our country's future and our childrens' future, I urge you to reconsider electing Mark Carney to the highest office in the land. Instead, he should remain in his high corner office, where he will do everyone the most good.

Plus the other benefit is we don't have to pretend he likes living in Canada. He can go to the US and advise us from there.
